v04.n732 started a topic which later got this comment: Ifound the informatin
"psuedo" scientific and had to decipher a bit, but it seems like this approach
from what I've read
is again going back to a free natural voice. When I thought about what I do
and just sang, I saw
that what he was saying is what a good singer does because of vocal freedom,
but again an idea
is being presented which may cause the student to focus on a particular
principal rather than a relaxed body with good muscle tone, supported breath,
and good vowel sounds, an approach
which always seems to create these "discoveries" naturally. [more, less pertinent to review]

v02.n123 Also buy or check out the French Diction book by Thomas Grubb. Excellent
reading and approached to French vocal music. [another poster says this:] Grubb's book is by far the best guide to singing French that I have seen or
read. I was lucky enough in college to have him as a visting professor, and
he is a truly exceptional man. [and another poster says] I too have found the Grubb an exceptional book, although I have never met
the man. I have found his transliterations of the standards to be a
valuable tool in teaching my students who do not speak french how to go
about preparing a song in french using the IPA. [and yet another:] I second the recommendation. That's the text for the class I'm currently
in, and for the *first time EVER* I'm gaining some facility with the
pronunciation of the language.

v01.n033 There is a very complete book called "Singing in Latin" by
Harold Copeman. It's 360 page large format hardback and published by the
author at 22 Tawney St, Oxford OX4 1NJ, England.
It handles Latin pronunciation through the ages in different
countries and is probably too detailed for someone who just
wants one acceptable method.
He has also a 48 page small format booklet called "The Pocket Singing in Latin"
from the same address which may be enough for many singers.
