For Mezzo-soprano, baritone (although these voices never sing in the same song), wind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn), and piano. commissioned by The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and first performed August 4, 1996. The performers were Tara Helen O'Conner, flute; Ellen Sherman, oboe; Jack Howell, clarinet; Sue Heineman, bassoon; Julie Pilant, horn; Max Levinson, piano; Janice Felty, mezzo-soprano; and Hector Vasquez, baritone. Dedicated to Shirley Genther.
