If anyone tried out the RealAudio clips yesterday, you were probably unsuccessful. From the try, try again department we have a new audio clip index which might work a bit better.
It seems to be linking to the wrong clips now but maybe that is fixed...Crossing my
fingers as I upload to the site yet again. Here's the RealPlayer G2 link again.

The first fruits of the RealAudio work are
available--I can't test them until they are on the web site, so I can't guarantee that
everything is going smoothly yet. You'll need at least a 28.8K internet connection
and the RealPlayer G2 to listen to these clips if they
are working. So far we just have a few clips of songs by Richard Pearson Thomas--use that link to see his songs and
see if the clips are working for you. Eventually we will have an audio clip index
(first draft here; side links definitely don't work and others might not)
and listening links on most of the song catalog indices. Now they are only on the
poet pages, the composer pages, and the song information pages. Again, I don't know
if they work yet; I have to upload them to the site to see how they are doing.
Thanks to some other contributors we've also added some
John Duke songs and a song by Paul Stouffer; a lovely cd from Patricia Prunty is now in the recording
section of the bibliography. A review of WOW!Bach (a software program) and some
further development in the audio clips should be coming soon. And I probably should
finalize the program for my own recital... :-) Have a great day!

Site work has been behind largely the scenes. I did alter the site a bit so that those of you who are on a larger display than
800x600 can have full use of your screen. A friend also clued me into an opera
site that deserves attention: Parterre
Box, "the world's only totally OUT opera magazine," with critically
acclaimed, outrageous reviews and news for any gender-preference. The permanent link
is on the opera page. Finally, we have a new newsletter out
(read here, subscribe here).
Other than that I have been setting up the new equipment and software for making the
RealAudio clips and contacting composers to ask them for recordings.
On the real job front, we had a few performances of
Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortiléges this week as well as some student workshops
at a local private school. We'll be on a quick tour for a few student shows of
Figaro in this coming week.

Obviously, I've moved the current news to the front page here. We have a bunch of new basic entries for some Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji songs and a new cycle for (low but musically sophisticated) tenor and chamber ensemble by Daron Hagen. About 40 new songs! Still working on the RealAudio clips. Early March is still looking like a reasonable date for clips to show up.
